Spot Joins the Future at Reworlding: Cardigan Commons

Health Transformation Lab’s Spot the robot made a surprise appearance on Cardigan Street in Carlton, stepping into the imaginative world of Reworlding: Cardigan Commons—a live action role-play (LARP) event designed by artist and urban play designer Troy Innocent in collaboration with the RMIT Future Play Lab.

Set in a speculative Naarm/Melbourne of 2050, the event invited participants to co-create a future neighbourhood in the wake of a CityAI crash. Over two days, players built characters, developed community strategies, and explored themes of governance, climate resilience, and shared futures through play.

Spot, curious as ever about the role of robotics in future cities, couldn’t resist joining in. Navigating the transformed streetscape, Spot became part of the unfolding story—sparking conversations, reactions, and plenty of photos along the way.

It was exciting to see Spot interact with a world shaped by imagination, modular architecture, and community-driven climate storytelling. We were thrilled to support this speculative experiment and watch Spot take on a new role in an event that blended creativity, technology, and collective visioning.

Big thanks to Troy Innocent, RMIT, and all the players who welcomed Spot into the commons.
