Empowering Healthcare Staff with Future-Ready Skills
The healthcare sector is undergoing rapid digital transformation, yet a critical skills gap persists: many clinical, non-clinical, and IT staff lack the capability and confidence to engage with emerging technologies such as AI, data systems, and cybersecurity. Addressing this gap is essential for workforce readiness and quality of care.
This is the challenge that RMIT University, Cisco and Grampians Health started exploring in 2023, through collaborative involvement in the National Industry Innovation Network. With stimulus from the Victorian Government, through a Skills Solutions Partnership grant, this bold collaboration delivered training to 365 staff members, across five micro-credential courses.
The impact of the pilot is evident in outcomes – Learners reported an increased confidence in navigating IT systems, rising from 71% to 92%, and readiness to use emerging technologies increased from 56% to 92%. Moreover, 97% of participants believed their employer would benefit from their training. This cross-functional model did more than deliver training; it created scalable pathways for workforce transformation across regional Victoria – Watch our video below to learn more:
